Question: What have you published recently?

I have recently published The Antpod Faction, which is a speculative science-fiction adventure novel that is about Mase, a female antpod (organic android) who possesses traits of Asperger Syndrome. I intend to publish a heroic fantasy novel next, called Roc Isle: The Descent.

Question: How, and when, did you decide to become a writer?

I decided to become a writer when I was 21. I think my main motivations were to get down the differences I felt I had from everyone else, as somebody diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. I also had an idea for a story that was in my head for a while, which I wanted to plan and get down on paper (or Microsoft word).

Question: Where can we find your published writing?

Question: What is a typical day like for you as a writer?

I spend most of my time writing stories, editing stories, formatting stories, and publishing stories. A typical day for me is to read a bit of a great science-fiction and fantasy book. I like the genres military, speculative, space-opera, and heroic fantasy. I like to watch a bit of Star Trek or some Japanese anime; and science-fiction, action, adventure, and comedy films. I spend a few hours marketing my book, but I do find it difficult; which maybe has something to do with my being a writer.

Question: What are your favorite characters that you have created? Tell us about them

In The Antpod Faction Mase is a bit of a favourite because she represents the innocent, vulnerable, and naïve parts of my personality. She is highly intelligent, but physically weak. She doesn’t know how to interact with fellow antpods, and is stuck carrying out obsessive routines in her apartment.

But in contrast Ankah, the male protagonist in my upcoming heroic fantasy novel Roc Isle: The Descent, is frustrated, angry, and physically powerful. He is intellectually stunted, but in the dangerous world of Roc Isle a poor intellect is not very hindering.

Question: do you find you “mentally edit” other writers’ works as you read them? Does doing this help you or bother you?

I do mentally edit other writers work. I can’t help it. Usually my edits are not about restricting the arrangement of the text, but are superficial, such as grammatical or spelling errors, which I sometimes find. It bothers me that the mistakes are there in the first place.

Question: What music do you listen to, while writing?

I don’t listen to music while writing. I need complete silence to get my vision on paper.

Question: What do you eat while writing?

If I ate anything while writing it would probably be a packet of crisps or something mundane like that.

Five for Fun:

What is your favourite non-alcoholic drink?

What is your favourite cartoon character?

I think Dastardly from Wacky Races looks rather humorous.

What is your favourite movie of all time?

This is a tough one. I like the Rocky movies. Avatar is a good film. I usually like fighting, action, or science-fiction films I think.

What do you like to do for fun or just to relax?

I usually just sit and watch something if I want to relax. Sometimes I’ll cool down on my bed after having read too much.
